Anti-static polyethylene packaging
What is anti-static polyethylene foam?
Some of the components of electronic devices, such as integrated circuits, are very sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).
This is a momentary and sudden flow of current, usually not perceptible to humans, which is generated by direct contact between two or more objects made of different materials, usually by rubbing them together.
The resulting current flow, often by accident, can damage electronic equipment, making it susceptible to failure and, in some cases, completely unusable. The use of anti-static polyethylene foam components avoids electrostatic discharge.
This material does not release charges when in contact with other plastics.
As a result, antistatic foam packaging is ideal for protecting sensitive electronic devices susceptible to electrostatic effects.
In addition, they do not cause scratches, which allows them to be used to shield delicate components such as LCD panels and screens.

The use of anti-static polyethylene foam elements
Our company offers foams used in the protection of materials and electrical and electronic equipment.
Polyethylene anti-static (ESD) foam, thanks to its reduced resistivity, does not accumulate electrical charges to high potential, making it an excellent protection of finished components for the electronics industry.
ESD foam comes in various thicknesses and densities.
Thanks to our technology, we can freely process the foam so that the final product meets the highest standards. Protective profiles made of polyethylene foam are widely used at various stages of production, transportation and storage of electronic components.
Among them, the following can be mentioned:
- ESD polyethylene foam can be used for lining the workstation, so that the equipment will be protected from discharges already at the stage of assembly,
- Special armbands for workers can also be made from antistatic materials to dissipate charges from their bodies,
- Anti-static polyethylene foam works well as a divider to safely store individual devices or components close to each other, allowing for more space-efficient storage,
- ESD foam packaging is also a very popular application especially helpful during transportation, during which unwanted electrostatic discharges are easiest.
Why use anti-static foam packaging?
Components are constantly becoming more miniaturized, increasing the need for adequate protection. This contributes to increased sensitivity to electrostatic discharge. Many electronics manufacturing companies have certainly encountered situations where improperly stored components failed quality tests, and thus had to be taken out of production. Protective foam profiles avoid such inconveniences and the associated financial losses. They also reduce the risk of incurring claim costs for products already damaged after inspection.
ESD packaging can be used both during storage and transportation, during the manufacturing process and to deliver finished equipment to customers. Many protective materials with antistatic properties are offered on the market. ESD polyethylene foam has the advantage over other materials that it is delicate and weighs little, so it does not significantly increase the weight of the shipment, nor does it expose the shipped item to damage.
